Critics reward von Trier’s Melancholia
Apocalyptic mental drama Melancholia has been called the year’s best film by the National Society of Film Critics, which also selected its star Kirsten Dunst as greatest actress and Brad Pitt as best actor for the baseball drama Moneyball as well as The Tree Of Existence.
Lars von Trier dropped out on the very best director award for his function on Melancholia to Terrence Malick for The Tree Of Life, a mystical period piece which also won the greatest cinematography prize.
